Ariel Henry: two years in power, alone, with no mandate, no checks and balances, no opposition and no assessment

Two years on from his installation on Tuesday July 20, 2021 at the Primature in Bicentenaire, an area now totally controlled by armed gangs, Prime Minister Ariel Henry has failed to keep any of his promises. Despite two political agreements published in the country's official newspaper, Le Moniteur, the neurosurgeon, the country's sole leader, has been unable to breathe life into the transition.

Less than 15 days after the assassination of President Jovenel Moïse on July 7, 2021, Henry took over the reins of the Primature from where he has been ruling the country alone for exactly two years, with no checks and balances and practically no opposition. Pursuing the investigation into the assassination of President Jovenel Moïse, combating insecurity, organizing elections and revitalizing the economy were among the Prime Minister's priorities the day after his accession to the office.
