Truce in Cité Soleil: Pastor Jean Enock Joseph calls on the State to take action to perpetuate peace

The truce in Cité Soleil has been in effect for some 22 days. Exchanges of fire between rival gangs have ceased. However, the commune still looks like a war-torn place, struggling to get back on its feet. The free movement of people and goods is not guaranteed, due to, among other things, the hideouts of bandits who have remained occupied and the garbage piling up; the war zones are deserted, the damaged houses are uninhabited. A ceasefire has been in effect in Cité Soleil for about 22 days. There have been no exchanges of fire between the rival gangs following the agreement they signed on July 1, 2023 at the initiative of American priest Tom Hagan, according to Pastor Jean Enock Joseph, who spoke on Magik9 on July 18.
