The second round of negotiations led by CARICOM emissaries has ended in failure

The political negotiations conducted under the auspices of CARICOM have returned to square one. After three days of meetings and discussions in Port-au-Prince, no agreement has been reached. A plenary session held on Friday evening between the signatories of the December 21 agreement and those of the joint declaration from Kingston did not lead to any progress. Each party accuses the other of sabotaging the initiative of the Caribbean emissaries.

"Once again, the stubbornness of the signatories of the Kingston Declaration and their insistence on imposing their five-member presidential college have caused the second round of negotiations under the auspices of CARICOM to fail, despite the mediation's finesse.
