Customs Department Sees Decrease in Imports, Rise in Revenue

In the first nine months of the fiscal year 2022-2023, the volume of goods imported into Haiti has decreased by over 700,000 tonnes compared to the first nine months of the previous year.

In the first nine months of the fiscal year 2022-2023, the volume of goods imported into Haiti has decreased by over 700,000 tonnes compared to the first nine months of the previous year. However, customs revenue has doubled during the same period.

From October to June, the Haitian customs recorded over 2,186,510.72 tonnes of goods and collected over 78,731,062,184.00 Haitian gourdes (Gdes). In June of the previous year, the volume of imported goods was 2,964,177.06 tonnes, with customs revenue amounting to over 36,642,812,165.00 G
