Government Seeks Transparency and Efficiency in Spending Social Program Funds Amid Growing Hunger Crisis in Haiti

The Henry government wants to put in place safeguards and nearly test the transparency and efficiency of its program by proposing to disburse, but not spend for the moment, 25% of the 15 billion Haitian gourdes available since January from the Food Shock Window Program of the IMF to finance its social program for vulnerable populations. The total envelope is 21 billion Haitian gourdes, considering the contribution of 6 billion Haitian gourdes from the public treasury, according to a government source who spoke with Le Nouvelliste on Friday,
