The Bibliothèque Monique Calixte celebrates 20 years of existence

The Bibliothèque Monique Calixte (BMC) celebrates its 20th anniversary. To commemorate the occasion, the library is presenting a photo exhibition depciting the library’s history since its creation in 1996. This exhibition will be displayed at the FOKAL atrium from July 21-29, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

According to FOKAL's website, this exhibition focuses on the evolution of the library, marked by dynamism, its entry into modernity, openness to the public, and fidelity to its mission: support the community in its quest for knowledge, change, democracy, and building an inclusive society. The BMC is named after Monique Calixte. After her studies in France, she returned to Haiti, but left the country because of the Duvalier dictatorship. She never lost touch with her native country and frequently returned to Haiti. Over the years, she acquired
