It is the first national institution which addressed the problem of intellectual disability and focused its strategy based on the needs of disadvantaged areas where the majority of Haitian children live.
Located in the downtown area, the institution whose premises were severely damaged during the 2010 earthquake has been successful in building a new structure which is scheduled to open this year thanks to funding from Secours Catholique. The monies raised during the fundraiser, will be used to build the fence.

A fundraiser to celebrate the Centre d’Education Spéciale (CES) 40th anniversary will take place on April 29th at Le Villate will be center around music. The Centre d’Education Spéciale which has been working with children for many years is a nongovernmental nonprofit institution involved with children with developmental disabilities as well as with their families and communities since 1976.
