PIDIH launched in Santiago and Barahona

The Haitian immigrant identification and documentation program (PIDIH in French) launched its operations on April 17th in Santiago and Barahona. With the opening of two new offices, PIDIH is now present in three cities in the Dominican Republic. Officials aim to identify the maximum amount of Haitians by June 2015.

llThe PIDIH launched its operations in Barahona, particularly in Santiago, the second city of the neighboring republic. The program intends to deliver identification documents in these cities where a large part of the Haitian community is found. The opening of two offices was attended by representatives of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Haitians living abroad, members of the Embassy of Haiti in the Dominican Republic and Dominican authorities.
