Improved seeds, fertilizers, and a constant source of water are essential in order for a producer to increase rice production in the Artibonite Valley. The new administration of the Artibonite Valley Development Organization of (ODVA in French) is now tasked with aiding the producers in the region.
According to Franco Jean-Pierre, General Director of the ODVA, major investments are needed for an effective revival of production in this part of the country. The valley, he said, has no more than 15 tractors and some tillers.
