Three schools inaugurated in the towns of Leogane and Gressier

On December 3rd, the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) inaugurated three schools in Gressier and Léogâne. The rehabilitation of these schools was conducted by UNDP in partnership with Finn Church Aid (FCA), Norwegian Church Aid (NCA) and the Anglican Bureau of Education in Haiti (BAEH in French), with funding from the Finnish Government.

llThe opening ceremony was held at l’école Bonne Nouvelle de Bigonet in the presence of representatives of the clergy, UNDP, FCA, the NCA, the BAEH, local authorities, as well as parents and students of the three schools. Ecole Bonne Nouvelle, école Epiphanie of Leogane, and école St. Philipe & St. Jacques in Gressier were destroyed by the January 12, 2010 earthquake. Sophie de Caen, UNDP Senior Director in Haiti, said that these schools have been rebuilt as part of the the "Management of debris in Leogane project funded by the Finnish Governm
