Kesner Pharel Declares the State Bankrupt After Years of Inflation and Economic Decline
Over a span of 15 years, from 2010 to 2025, inflation in Haiti rose from 4.7% to 32.2%. During the decade 2015–2025, only the first three fiscal years—2015–2016, 2016–2017, and 2017–2018—each recorded positive growth. From 2018 to 2025, it has been a crossing of the desert marked by seven consecutive years of contraction. Such a picture makes Haiti a failed state. This failure is even reflected in the decision-making of certain high-ranking state officials, argues analyst Kesner Pharel during his program Investir on Sunday, February 8, 2026.
