The Senate of Paraguay rejected on Friday President Santiago Peña's request for 72 hours to prepare his defense ahead of the impeachment trial he will face due to the crisis of the Ueno bank that is shaking the country.
"We did not gather the necessary votes, the (three-day delay requested, ed.) is therefore rejected," said Senate President Basilio Núñez, paving the way for the trial to continue on Friday.
