Beijing congratulated leftist Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva on Monday for his re-election and expressed its readiness to continue cooperating with Brazil.
"China has noted the announcement by Brazil's Supreme Electoral Tribunal of President Lula's victory in the second round (...) and extends its congratulations to him," said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun during a regular press briefing. "China is willing to work with Brazil to continue building a shared future," he stated.
