Violence in Gros-Morne: over 8,000 displaced

Violent armed clashes that occurred on September 28, 2026, in the commune of Gros-Morne have led to the displacement of around 8,486 people (2,011 households), according to the International Organization for Migration (IOM). The localities of Péletier, Carnifice, Centre-Ville, Kamas, and Dosny were particularly affected, the organization specified. The vast majority of the displaced (99%) found refuge with host families, mainly in Gros-Morne (66%) and Gonaïves (26%), it reported.
