The trial of Christian Emmanuel Sanon, 67, and other defendants in the case surrounding the assassination of President Jovenel Moïse began with jury selection on Monday, September 28, 2026. Sanon faces several charges, including staging a coup d’état and conspiring to kidnap or kill Jovenel Moïse.
Before the trial began, 18 defendants, Joseph Félix Badio and 17 Colombians, all of whom had been charged, were transferred to the United States to answer for their actions.
