The International Monetary Fund (IMF) and Haitian authorities reached a staff-level agreement following a remote mission conducted from September 14 to 25, 2026. According to a press release published on September 28, 2026, discussions took place with the Minister of Economy and Finance, Serge Gabriel Colin, the Governor of the Bank of the Republic of Haiti, Ronald Gabriel, as well as with other senior officials. By the end of June, the quantitative and indicative targets of the program were met, except for the one concerning external arrears, which have been quickly settled, while some reforms are still lagging behind. However, the IMF remains concerned about the country's economic situation, which is expected to experience a eighth consecutive year of contraction in 2026, amid insecurity, rising oil prices, and the risk of a decline in private remittances.<\/p>
