UN: Luis Abinader calls for the renewal of the mandate of the Gendarmerie Force in Haiti

Dominican President Luis Abinader has called on the UN to renew the mandate of the Gang Suppression Force (FRG) in Haiti, which is set to expire on September 30. Speaking on the Haitian crisis, he denounced arms trafficking, human trafficking, and the worsening insecurity, highlighting that nearly one million Haitians have been displaced. He also advocated for the completion of the deployment of the force, which would only have one-fifth of its personnel, as well as for the enforcement of the arms embargo. Luis Abinader finally stated that the solution to the crisis must be found in Haiti, not in the Dominican Republic.<\/p>
