Nearly 1.5 million internally displaced persons recorded in Haiti by IOM

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) has published its situation report for August 2026, indicating that the internal displacement crisis remains at an unprecedented level in Haiti. According to the organization’s data, 1,466,862 people are displaced within the country, while 93,878 people have received assistance from the IOM, particularly in the areas of water, health, housing, protection, and psychosocial support. Moreover, 28,104 Haitian migrants have been forcibly returned, while violence, particularly in Kenscoff, has led to new displacements and increased pressure on host communities and essential services.<\/p>
