Like its explosive start in the Spanish league, FC Barcelona launched its Champions League campaign by overpowering Feyenoord Rotterdam (5-1), thanks in part to a brace from Raphinha, on Wednesday at Camp Nou.

The Barcelonans, leaders of La Liga with a perfect record (4 wins) and an impressive total of 17 goals, displayed the same offensive efficiency in the Champions League against the Dutch.

It took only three minutes for blaugrana captain Raphinha to open the scoring. Found by Lamine Yamal, the current top scorer in La Liga (6 goals) outpaced a defender, then eliminated two others with a left-footed feint, before slotting a shot into the back of the net.

It was then one of Barça's summer signings, Karim Adeyemi, who entertained the crowd by doubling the lead with a stunning curled shot with his right foot (22nd minute).

After the break, Raphinha, who is unstoppable at the start of the season, netted his second goal after a perfect assist from Pedri (57th minute). Spanish World Champion Lamine Yamal added to the tally with a magnificent free kick (77th minute), before setting up the fifth goal for newcomer Gabriel Jesus, who scored with a header (85th minute).

Feyenoord had reduced the score through Sem Steijn (82nd minute).

In the next matchday (October 13), Barça will travel to Istanbul to face Galatasaray before facing defending champions Paris SG a week later.
