Cuba has suffered a "record" financial impact of 8 billion dollars from March 2025 to February 2026 due to the American embargo, announced Cuban Minister of Foreign Affairs on Monday, specifying that this figure did not take into account the consequences of the oil blockade which has been in place for seven months.
According to Bruno Rodriguez, the embargo imposed by the United States since 1962 has caused a financial loss of 8 billion dollars between March 2025 and February 2026, representing a "record figure (...) 7% higher" than that of the previous year. "These figures do not include the damages caused by the energy siege" in effect since the end of January, "nor the secondary sanctions" applied since May, he clarified.
