Alberto Föhrig, OAS SG's Representative for Haiti, Calls for Haitian-Led Solutions

Solutions to the Haitian crisis must come from Haiti, from its government and its society, argues the Special Representative of the OAS Secretary General for Haiti, Alberto Föhrig. Invited to speak on the American channel CNN, he emphasized the necessity of a legitimate government to effect fundamental changes, while stressing the importance of restoring the security conditions necessary for organizing transparent and credible elections. He stated that the Organization of American States (OAS) is working alongside Haitian authorities to facilitate this process, while the international community must provide support under the leadership of Haiti and in respect of its institutional framework.<\/p>
