The Embassy of Japan in Haiti and the Organization of American States (OAS) signed a cooperation agreement on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, in favor of social services. The agreement provides for Japanese funding to support several interventions in Haiti. The project focuses particularly on the rehabilitation of infrastructure and the installation of equipment. It also includes capacity building for the relevant institutions to improve the population's access to social services. The Secretary General of the OAS, Albert R. Ramdin, and the Japanese Ambassador to Haiti, Nishiuchi Kazuhiko, initialed the agreement. The ceremony took place at the headquarters of the National Identification Office (ONI) in the presence of the Minister of Justice, Patrick Pélissier, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Raina Forbin, and the Director General of the ONI, Reynold Guerrier.
