The United States entered its 36th day of budget paralysis on Wednesday, thus breaking the record for the longest “shutdown” in the country’s history, as the harmful consequences for millions of Americans continue to expand day by day.
Since October 1, Republicans and Democrats have been unable to reach an agreement to adopt a new budget. At midnight, Washington time, between Tuesday and Wednesday, the shutdown surpassed the previous record of 35 days, set in 2019 during Donald Trump’s first term.
