Democrats in the United States won decisively on Tuesday in the gubernatorial races in Virginia and New Jersey, in elections viewed as a barometer of the first turbulent months of Donald Trump’s return to the White House.
In Virginia, Democrat Abigail Spanberger had been widely favored in the polls to become the first woman governor of this East Coast state, which had been led by Republican Glenn Youngkin for the past four years but was never carried by Donald Trump in a presidential election.
