Sylvio Paul Cator was born on October 9, 1900, in Cavaillon, in Haiti’s southern department. The son of General Joseph Milien Cator, a member of the presidential guard under President Antoine Simon, and Marie Candio Cator, he grew up in a family of coffee and cotton traders.
