It all began in 1987 at Batofou, a venue that regularly hosted performances by musicians such as Boulo Valcourt every Saturday night. During a jam session, three of the four future pillars of Papash met. “Tono,” a small improvised orchestra set up to temporarily replace Boulo, who was away traveling, served as the foundation for the future group Zenglen. The collaboration between Wuydens Joseph and Ralph Condé continued despite their respective professional obligations.
