Second group to emerge and endure after Ibo Combo, Les Frères Déjean left their mark on the Haitian music scene through their exceptional longevity and unique sound. From Pétion-Ville to New York, a look back at half a century of innovation.

It all began on July 13, 1963, in Pétion-Ville, when saxophonist Lyonel Déjean founded an orchestra initially called "Les Frères de Pétion-Ville," soon renamed "Les Frères Déjean."

From the start, Les Frères Déjean stood out from other bands. While most groups favored a compact format, they opted for a powerful brass section: saxophone, trumpet, trombone. This rich instrumentation would become their signature.
