Cap-Haïtien: Launch of SOS Road Construction to Open Up the Northern Region

A new strategic six-kilometer road, linking National Road 1 to National Road 6, is under construction in the Cap-Haïtien region. Launched on Friday, July 18, 2025, the project also includes the construction of a 48-meter bridge and aims to relieve congestion in the city while promoting regional development.

The President of the Transitional Presidential Council (CPT), Fritz Alphonse Jean, laid the foundation stone on Friday, July 18, 2025, to mark the start of construction work on the SOS road. This strategic section will connect National Road 1 to National Road 6, over a six-kilometer stretch within the commune of Cap-Haïtien.

Funded by the World Bank, the project also includes the construction of a 48-meter bridge over the Mapou River, along with the strengthening of the drainage and sanitation systems in the area. The project
