As of 2 a.m. on Monday, the flames from the remains of the Mirebalais communal market were still smoldering following an arson attack carried out by gangs from Croix-des-Bouquets and Canaan on Sunday.
This tragic event caused significant losses for local vendors, who had already suffered from previous attacks. Twenty-four hours later, no operations or strategic actions had been undertaken by the Haitian National Police to neutralize the gang members who have been active in the town for over two months.
