Haiti Takes Center Stage in Berlin’s Pan-African Day of Reflection

On May 25, in celebration of African Liberation Day, the cultural center of the Spore Initiative in Berlin pulsed to the rhythm of Haiti during a special conference. Organized by a collective from the Haitian diaspora in Germany, the event placed Haiti at the heart of discussions and imagination from the German capital. In the face of the multiple crises shaking the country, the speakers proposed new frameworks for understanding the current situation—far from the clichés too often conveyed by European media—while outlining
