Torrential rains hit the city of Ouanaminthe on Monday, May 5, 2025, causing significant flooding, particularly in the popular neighborhood of Gaya. The provisional report provided by the Head of Civil Protection for the Northeast, Joanis Fleury, states that 3,286 houses were flooded, and 4,365 families were affected.
"3,286 houses were flooded, and 4,365 families were affected by the recent downpours that struck the city of Ouanaminthe," specified Mr. Fleury, while emphasizing that no loss of life was reported.
