OPC Raises Alarm Over Growing Displacement Crisis in Port-au-Prince

In a report published this month, the Office of Citizen Protection (OPC) raises the alarm about the situation of internally displaced persons (IDPs) in the metropolitan area. Fleeing escalating violence from armed groups, these populations are living in precarious, often undignified conditions, without any form of institutional protection. The human rights defense institution is calling for a rapid, structured response grounded in respect for fundamental rights.

As armed violence continues to shake the metropolitan area—still under the growing threat of armed criminals from the Viv Ansanm coalition—this report by the OPC sheds light on the alarming humanitarian conditions in which thousands of displaced people live in makeshift camps erected here and there in areas not yet under gang control.
