UPAG Hosts Debate on the Heavy Legacy of Haiti’s Double Debt Independence

As the bicentennial of Haiti’s independence debt (1825–2025) approaches, the Public University of Artibonite at Gonaïves (UPAG) organized a conference-debate on its campus on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, under the theme: “1825–2025, Two Hundred Years of Injustice: Haiti and the Burden of the Double Debt.” This initiative, which brought together a range of speakers from the university’s various faculties, aimed to shed light on the many facets of this historical debt imposed on Haiti by France.
