April 7, 2025 marks the 222nd anniversary of the death of Toussaint Louverture, a central figure in the fight against slavery and a forerunner of Haiti’s independence. On this occasion, the Embassy of Haiti in France took part in a series of solemn commemorations, ranging from laying wreaths of flowers to moments of reflection at his last place of detention, the Château de Joux, and at the memorial built below, in Grand Pontarlier, to honor the memory and legacy of Toussaint Louverture.
