U.S. Warns of Sanctions on Authorities Over Medical Cooperation with Cuba

About twenty days ago, the U.S. Secretary of State announced a "visa restriction policy against leaders of countries that use Cuban medical cooperation." The U.S. State Department has now begun to implement this threat.

"Today, we are announcing the expansion of an existing visa restriction policy regarding Cuba, which targets forced labor linked to the Cuban labor export program. This expanded policy applies to current or former Cuban government officials, as well as any other individuals, including officials of foreign governments, suspected of being responsible for or involved in the Cuban labor export program, particularly the Cuban medical missions abroad," stated U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio in a press release dated February 25, 2025.
