Students in Jérémie Demand Teachers End Strike and Return to Class

Since the beginning of the year, hundreds of students in public schools in Jérémie have been deprived of classes due to a teachers’ strike. The protests and calls for action by public school teachers have intensified, but the situation remains unresolved. Concern is growing among parents and administrators of both public and private schools.

"With these demands and work stoppages, we want to send a clear message to Minister Augustin. We are not responsible for the disorder you see here. The state is solely to blame for this situation," explained teacher Nicolson to reporters.

"There are employees with debit cards higher than their salaries. Employees of the National Library, the National Port Authority (APN), and the National Old Age Insurance Office (ONA) all have access to this card. Why deny teachers this right?" questioned Martine Durogèn
