Gang Leader Micanor Shuts Down Port of Port-au-Prince

Caribbean Port Services (CPS), the main operator of the Port of Port-au-Prince, was forced to suspend its activities under pressure from the Wharf Jérémie gang leader, Micanor, Le Nouvelliste learned from a well-informed source on Thursday, January 9, 2025.

Operations had resumed in November 2024 after being halted for over a month following the kidnapping of two crew members from a ship in the Bay of Port-au-Prince in October and gunfire targeting port facilities.
