On Thursday, October 24, 2024, a suspected motorcycle thief was shot dead by government commissioner Jean Ernest Muscadin and then burned by locals on Boulevard des Quatre Chemins in Les Cayes. The suspect allegedly attempted to steal a motorcycle on O'Shiell Street (Kasyèl) in front of a local school.
The day before, on Wednesday, October 23, the PNH intervention brigade pursued two suspected robbers, killing one during an exchange of gunfire. During this operation, an officer sustained injuries to his arm and leg.
