UNICEF’s Catherine Russell Describes a Catastrophic Humanitarian Crisis, Urges Immediate Action

UNICEF Executive Director Catherine Russell described a worsening crisis in Haiti, calling for a series of urgent measures to help the Haitian people during a meeting with the UN Security Council on Tuesday, October 22, 2024.

"Since I last briefed you six months ago about the crisis in Haiti, the catastrophic situation has only continued to deteriorate. Every day, Haitians endure some of the worst abuses, rights violations, and threats to life that we are seeing anywhere in the world," she told the Security Council.
