Three Dead, Six Injured in Mutiny and Escape Attempt at Jacmel Civil Prison

Three inmates have died and six others were injured following a mutiny at Jacmel Civil Prison, which occurred during the night of Tuesday, March 5, 2024.

A state of panic gripped Jacmel Civil Prison as hundreds of inmates attempted to escape. Sporadic gunfire was heard, and law enforcement officers had to deploy tear gas to regain control of the situation.
