The department of Northeast, in several of its cities, including Trou-du-Nord, Terrier-Rouge, Fort-Liberté, and Ouanaminthe, experienced a day of protests marked by acts of violence on Monday, January 29, 2024. Two individuals, a woman, and a young man lost their lives, and cases of arson were recorded. The identities of the victims were not yet known at the time of writing.
