On Monday, the government commissioner for the jurisdiction of Cap-Haïtien, Me Charles Edouard Durand, met with the owners of a bar closed last weekend in downtown Cap-Haïtien due to "nighttime disturbances and public order issues."
The commissioner's action coincides with the engagement ceremony of two young women in this restaurant the day before. Many perceive the commissioner's decision as an action against these young homosexual women, a perception that the commissioner rejects.
