The Dominican government, in response to the construction of the irrigation canal on the Massacre River by Haitian farm workers, decided to install pumps at the intersection of the said river between Haiti and the Dominican Republic, as observed by Le Nouvelliste on Tuesday 3 October 2023. The aim of this move is to divert the water, preventing it from being made available to Haitians.
