Generally considered events with significant popular turnout, patronal holidays are celebrated in complete darkness for the majority of cases due to the observed absence and inability of the Fort-Liberté thermal power plant of Electricity of Haiti (EDH) to generate electrical energy.
This absence of EDH during the patronal holidays in the Northeast region is also attributed to a glaring equipment problem, according to Mackly Édouard, the departmental director of EDH.
