On May 18, 2023, the Haitian government celebrated the 220th anniversary of the creation of the national flag in Cap-Haïtien, the country's second largest city. The ceremonies were held in relative calm and tranquility under the theme "Ann vanse ansanm anba DRAPO-N" ("Let's move forward together under our FLAG").
This event, typically organized in Arcahaie, was relocated this year to Cap-Haïtien due to growing insecurity on National Road number 1.
