CSPJ Certifies 30 Judges and Rejects 12 Others Criticized in the Judicial System

The Superior Council of the Judiciary has ruled on 60 magistrate cases forwarded by the Technical Certification Commission (CTC). 30 magistrates were certified, 12 were not certified for various reasons including "lack of integrity, extortion of litigants, deficient academic study." 18 cases require further investigation, according to the certification operations report transmitted to the Minister of Justice and Public Security, Emmelie Prophète Milcé.

Twelve magistrates were not certified by the Superior Council of the Judiciary out of sixty cases thoroughly reviewed by the Certification Technical Commission. This list includes the dean of the Court of First Instance of Les Coteaux, magistrate Gérald Exantus, "for deficient academic study" based on records from the Jacmel School of Law: regular session 1992.
