When a Haitian painter sticks to urbanism

Since participating in an art residency on international development in Bangladesh and Malawi, Nathalie Jolivert explores themes related to urban planning, the realities and challenges of the Haitian people. We learned about this artist painter who makes daily Haitian life her main source of inspiration.

Nathalie Jolivert had just finished her classical studies in the United States when she was able to sell one of the pieces from her registration portfolio to art universities. A simple and very colorful canvas, unlike her recent works: a woman in folkloric outfit framed with ornaments inspired by some paintings of the late painter Ismaël Saincilus, who died in 2010.
