CARICOM involved in post-Matthew relief efforts

Ambassador Irwin LaRocque, Secretary General of CARICOM, expressed the sadness of the Caribbean Community over the loss of human lives, livestock and materials recently recorded during the passage of Hurricane Matthew and provided assurance that CARICOM is fully committed to provide assistance for the reconstruction efforts.

Haiti was the worst hit among the CARICOM member states with hundreds dead and thousands displaced. Hurricane Matthew also affected Barbados, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, St. Lucia, Dominica, Jamaica, the Bahamas, and the Turks and Caicos Islands.
