Haiti commemorates International Day of Yoga

To commemorate this year's International Day of Yoga, adopted by the United Nations in December 2014, the Consulate of India in Haiti, together with the Indian Association of Haiti, organized an outdoor yoga event at Karibe hotel on Sunday, June 19, 2016, under the guidance of Yogi Swanni Rajakishishiva.

More than a hundred participants, including two Haitian government officials, made the trip to meditate and train with the Swanni guru, directly from India, and many teachers working in Haiti. The current Minister of the Environment, Dieuseul Desras Simon, who performed the opening of the business, stressed the importance of yoga for the wellbeing of the body and mind.
