The Embassy of Haiti in Washington DC will send Haitian soccer fans to the Copa America Centenario

On Sunday May 1, 2016, three Haitian soccer fans were crowned champions of a contest sponsored by the Haitian Embassy in Washington DC. The excitement was in the air as hundreds of people, including family and friends of the 10 finalists, filled the Royal Oasis Hotel to show their support. Raynald Damestoir, Johnny Lesperance and Donald Benjamin were declared winners of the month-long competition in which contestants’ knowledge of soccer was tested.

In collaboration with Groupe Excellence Plus and a multitude of local media in Port au Prince and the provinces, the Haitian Embassy in Washington DC sponsored a nationwide contest held in three in phases. During the first phase, hundreds of contestants had to answer questions via various radio stations. The second phase consisted of a written exam in which over 120 contestants participated.
